Massage Therapy
Swedish massage therapy is normally what comes to mind when you think about massage. One of the primary goals of Swedish massage techniques is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Cupping
Cupping therapy involves gliding pressurized cups over the body. The suction creates a vacuum pressure ideal for lifting tissue and causing separation within them. The lift allows a release for the metabolic wastes and fluids that get trapped. The pressure creates a drawing action in tissues rather than the compression of a massage resulting in greater separation. Cupping helps to increase blood flow and aids in tissue healing. This specific cupping uses silicone cups which are flexible and are constantly moving which is different than the stationary, glass cups which tend to lead to localized discolouration and/or bruising.
